Policies & FAQ

General Notes

Communication here is open. Respect is an expectation.

Kindness & understanding are required.

Inclusion is the conversation.

Tell me about refunds!

Due to the unique, handmade, and custom nature of our creations we do not offer refunds or returns.

We strongly recommend choosing an insured shipping option when ordering high end items. We will safely wrap and protect your item before sending it out, but once it is shipped we have no control.

Booking & Events

50% non refundable deposit due at the time of booking and remainder due 24 hours in advance of the event. We are a small business and often need to put work in preparing for your event and ordering extra supplies.

We will send out the balance payment request 48 hours ahead of the event. At which time (48 hours ahead of the event) the rescheduling policy is in effect. The deposit expires for alternative dates expires 6 months from the date of the initial event.

If the event balance is unpaid, the artist will not show, and you will forfeit your deposit.

Payment Policy

We do take your event payment in full upfront to reserve your booking and make your event is seamless as possible, this way the artist can focus on the art and not chasing final payments.

We offer a flexible rescheduling policy (see below). Without payment, your booking time slot is not reserved. We ask that you please complete your payment as soon as possible, or your inquiry may be cancelled due to inactivity. Payment can be completed online via PayPal (no account needed), or e-transfer. We can also make accommodations to receive payment by cash as needed.

Rescheduling Policy

We know life can be unpredictable! That's why we offer a flexible 48-Hour Rescheduling Policy. In the situation your event date needs to be moved we require minimum 48 hour notice to reschedule (new date and time pending upcoming artist availability). With less notice we unfortunately can no longer accommodate rescheduling or refunds as we must compensate our performers for the time they have committed to us (many turn down work at alternate jobs to accommodate our bookings, and it becomes too late for them to pick up additional work elsewhere). Communication is key, please let us know as soon as possible.

Failure to Pay

In the case of face paint events: We require 50% non-refundable deposit to confirm booking of your event date. The remainder is due 24 hours or earlier before your event start, if no final payment is received your event will be cancelled.

In the case of commissions: We require 50% non-refundable deposit before we begin your commission. Final Payment is due upon completion before you receive your completed commission work. If you do not pay your balance you will not receive your work and your deposit will be forfeit.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

Travel Fees

Tankboom Emporium is based out of  Edmonton, Alberta, and serves the greater Edmonton area. No additional travel costs are required for venues located within Edmonton, or the communities of Sherwood Park, Ardrossan, Beaumont, Leduc, Nisku, Spruce Grove, St. Albert, and Fort Saskatchewan. For events outside of these localities, or in rural areas, additional travel fees apply. These fees go directly to your artists to cover their time and mileage, and are estimated at $30 per artist, per hour spent in the vehicle.

Safety

Clients must ensure no harm is to be done to company property or artists. If an artist feels they are in a situation that is rude, inappropriate, or unsafe, they are permitted to temporarily step away from the event until the issue can be resolved. If the issue is unable to be resolved, the artist will exit the event permanently. You are not eligible for a refund if a team member leaves an event due to a safety/harassment concern.

Please note, our packages are not childcare services. Your artists should NEVER be left alone to care for children. A parent or guardian must be present and responsible for children at all times.

Artist Arrival

The artist will arrive at an event approximately 15 minutes before the time specified on your booking form. We provide this time to allow the artist to set up their station before painting begins. Station take down and clean up will not start until the end of time booked. Cleanup will take approximately 15

We highly recommend booking your artist start time to account for late guest arrival.

If you require additional set up on your end, or preparation time with them on the day of, this must be booked as paid time.

Weather Policy

In Alberta, we can face a variety of weather extremes! In general, we are quite prepared to dress for the weather when attending outdoor events. We are still human however, so we ask that event organizers are understanding about the need for shade and/or water breaks during extreme heat, or warm-up breaks indoors during extreme cold. In the case of inclement weather, our standard refund policy still applies where you can cancel or reschedule with minimum 48 hours notice.

Artist's Discretion

Design requests are at the discretion of the artist. To ensure all designs are the best quality, it is up to the artist to decide if the request is easily translatable to a face design and can be done well. Some designs may be unacceptable on the job, but we are happy to take suggestions for future designs in out catalogue.

Design limitations and length of booking is determined by the number of guests.

Though we do our best to keep kids engaged, we are not responsible if a child does not want to participate. We cannot force participation, and will encourage everyone to have fun in their own way.

Additional Entertainment and Activities

We love a party, and all the wonderful activities that come with! However, little ones can often become overstimulated if everything happens all at once. If you are having multiple forms of entertainment planned, we recommending sending only a couple children at a time to the face painter in order to get the maximum enjoyment of your party.

Children are very excited to get their face painted and we often experience everyone lining up at once! We are very flattered by this, but would love them to be able to enjoy the rest of the party.

Please let us know if at anytime during the booking if you need the artist to pause painting to allow for announcements (bringing out a cake etc.) that require everyone's attention.
